$XAI Token Skyrockets by 60% in a Week Amid Bitcoin's Cooling Period
The recent surge in XAI Games' native token, $XAI, has garnered significant attention, especially amid Bitcoin's cooling-off period. This impressive 60% surge within a week showcases the interconnected and volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market. Exploring the driving forces behind XAI's rapid valuation growth reveals the pivotal roles played by strategic partnerships, promotional events, and the influence of sector trends.
Key Catalysts for XAI's Surge:
Binance Listing and Airdrop Event: The strategic partnership with Binance has proven instrumental in XAI's valuation growth. Being listed as Binance's 43rd launchpool project and subsequent listing on January 9 opened doors to a vast user base, fueling optimism among altcoin enthusiasts. Additionally, a recent airdrop event by XAI Games, distributing $125 million worth of $XAI tokens to NFT series holders and selected network validators, contributed to increased speculation and buying interest, propelling the token's valuation to an impressive $137 million.
GameFi and Web3 Gaming Resurgence: XAI's surge aligns with the resurgence of the GameFi and Web3 gaming sectors. After a challenging phase in 2022, these sectors are experiencing a notable comeback, driven by the rebounding NFT market and the resilience of projects that weathered the previous bear market. This sectoral revival positions $XAI as an attractive investment option, especially for those optimistic about Ethereum, its layer 2 solutions, and the potential of Web3 gaming.
Current Statistics and Future Trajectory:
While the future trajectory of $XAI remains speculative, the current statistics present a promising picture. With a value of $0.0111965, a 10.09% rise within the day, and an impressive 157.14% increase over the past 7 days, $XAI's recent success vividly illustrates the fluctuating and dynamic character of the cryptocurrency market. Investors and enthusiasts keenly observe how these factors will shape the ongoing momentum of $XAI in the evolving crypto landscape.

In the vein of calling out our favs I'll tell you what Max did:
Max was racing in an iRacing event yesterday
Also racing in the same event is Jaden Munoz who is a Williams driver for their iRacing academy. Jaden is 19 years old iirc
Jaden was a Max fan and there are multiple tweets of him from 2021-2022 praising Max
Max and Jaden started close to eachother at the beginning of the race and were battling for the lead. Max was ahead. Max defended very aggressively, honestly too aggressively, and made two left-right manoeuvres to hold the lead. The contact would not have been so bad but Max was swerving and he dropped right to the back of the grid the moment their cars touched while Jaden kept his position
At this point Jaden says: "Look how dumb he is. He doesn't change, ever. He's so dumb" about Max. This is not a random insult, contrary to the way it was framed. Max had crashed Jaden out 2 weeks ago in the first lap of the 2024-25 GTP IMSA Global Esports Championship season finale. I think it's very important to point out that Jaden was leading the GTP IMSA championship and that was the last race of the season. He would have won it if Max hadn't crashed him out. Max was completely at fault and received a drive-through penalty for that collision
Back to our race from yesterday, Jaden drives a great race and keeps 2nd position
Towards the end of the race Jaden encounters Max again to lap him. The moment he sees that Max is the next car to lap he says "Oh no. Oh no, no, no." Implying that he thinks Max is about to crash him out as retaliation. And that's exactly what Max does: he purposefully crashes out Jaden.
Now we get to the only part of the story that anyone seems to care about which is Jaden's reaction when Max crashes him out which was: "Yeah, I knew it, I knew it. This is why you were gifted everything in your life, Max. You're a spoilt brat. You'd be nothing without your father. You'd be nothing. You'd be a nobody."
That's the totality of what happened. Since then Jaden has been getting a lot of hate on all his social media for saying Max is a spoilt brat who would be nothing without Jos. Honesty had it been anyone else besides a 19 year old Mexican-American kid I wouldn't have written this up. But as a Mexican-American experiencing Trump's Amerikkka I think the reaction towards Jaden is fucked up and unwarranted. He's a teenager with working class parents, gaming is literally his career. He was going to be champion two weeks ago and Max crashed him out, there was clearly residual resentment from that. The prize money for iRacing is probably what Max spends on a dessert in Monaco but again it's Jaden's career, it's his whole job, it's how he makes money. He anticipated Max would crash him out and then Max proved him right. I don't think it's the crime it's been made out to be for a hispanic 19 year old to bitterly point out that Jos was a millionaire who helped Max progress in his career. Again Max is a fav and maybe I'd feel a different way about this if the political climate was different but it just made me very sad and very bitter
thank you sm for writing all of this. Def call out your favs and you're definitely valid in how you feel

this is mean but. the thing is that nothing about 911 on abc is that deep because it’s 911 on abc but i do have to say that being in this fandom alone has wholesale lowered my expectations for the general capacity of people to engage not just critically but base-level logically with the world around them. like i kind of thought we were all on the same page here but i was wrong

Third rail or overhead?
Well, it depends! If you want a more detailed answer, here you go:
Overhead line electrification is typically better than third rail for a few reasons, ranging from physics related to safety conscerns. The higher voltage of overhead wires compared to third rail means there are smaller power losses due to ohmic heating, and fewer substations are required to power the lines. Overhead lines being AC rather than DC helps with this, since they can use transformers to change voltage, although some places do use DC overhead (no British mainlines do, however). The other area where overhead is better is safety, as it is rather difficult for passengers to touch the overhead wires and even harder to ground themselves while doing so (unless they're trying to electrocute themselves), whereas with third rail you can easily touch both the live rail and another piece of metal (such as the running rails). This is one reason why you shouldn't trespass on the railway, as you will die.
There are a few other areas where overhead is better, such as allowing for faster speeds (the contact shoe for third rail is much easier to damage than a pantograph, especially since the third rail has to stop briefly at switches & similar places) and how overhead lines can't really get covered in leaves that insulate the electrical current.
Looking at all of the advantages of overhead lines compared to third rail, you might wonder why third rail is used at all. However, there are still some advantages to using third rail. One big advantage is that third rail is much, much simpler than overhead wires, since it just needs a third rail; instead of stanchions, gantries, cables, weights, and pulleys for keeping the wires suspended, level, and under constant tension. The less complicated infrastructure does also mean third rail is easier and cheaper to build, which is one reason why a lot of older systems used it. In Britain, most of the trains south of London are third rail since the Southern Railway used it extensively, and changing it over would be rather pointless and expensive.
Another advantage is weather: strong winds don't affect third rail, and while you could have a strong storm blowing over caternary poles, you wouldn't have any problems with third rail. Also, neither system does well with ice.
A less important advantage of third rail is that some people don't like the look of overhead wires, and third rail can be a way of electrifying without having to deal with their complaints or resorting to battery electric trains (which are terrible and worse than either). This is a stupid reason for choosing third rail instead of overhead wires,
One final way in which third rail is better than overhead wires is that it is less restrictive in loading gauge – trains can't be taller than the overhead wires, and also need some clearance so they don't clip the wires or support structures. This is why most third rail systems around the world are metro systems, where it's very important to fit large trains into small tunnels, but high speeds are less important, so third rail works well (the same applies to fourth rail, used by the London Underground and almost no one else). However, this is less important for more recent metro systems, as advances in technology mean it is both possible to have larger tunnels and reduced clearance between overhead wires and trains; which can be seen in the use of overhead wires for modern metro systems such as the Delhi Metro.
Overall, both systems have advantages and disadvantages, but overhead wires are generally better than third rail. The reasons for third rail's use are largely historical, and it continues to exist because it would be too expensive to replace and for very little benefit – it is still electrification, and it's better to install new electrification than to swap one system for another.

To this day I cannot understand how fully grown adults manage to look at the Children's Show about forgiving people & making amends & making friends & get angry that the big bads didn't get, like, shot to death on-screen. In this children's show.
Ya know, the idea that you can't fight out all your problems or just kill people you don't like does make sense as a moral for children, but a lot of adults got weirdly angry about that.

We’ve all seen ‘Drifter and Operator who act a bit like siblings, with the Drifter being the cool older one’. But consider, Drifter who is generally paranoid and is scared shitless by this sudden child who looks like them from several years ago, except now they have magic void powers
Tumblr media
anon that is EXACTLY my favorite way to engage with the drifter-operator dynamic

There are these thoughts in my head, this feeling in my chest that idk how to adequately put into words, esp since i know i'm too nervous about all the ~discourse~ and caveats i'll have to make but
i'm just feeling things about the way amatonormativity devalues friendship
I could go on about it for ages, but right now it's the way that robbing friendship of value, of love, treating platonic love as less important, less deep, less real, than romantic love: it robs you of being able to mourn too
like if we reduce and ignore the ways that love and care show up in friendship we also reduce and ignore the ways that loss and grief show up there too
And the ways that it can show up differently than in other relationships
Like if a friend dies of course people expect you to be sad and go to the funeral. But if you say "my friend died" will people really treat it the same as if you said "my brother died?" or "my fiancé died"? And what about the ways you lose friends that are different from how you lose family or lovers? You lose friendships to time, proximity, and other relationships in a way you just never would a SO, and you're just supposed to accept it, as a normal part of life.
We all recognize romantic heartbreak, there's in-built sympathy and expectations surrounding break-ups, even the silly tropes of crying and eating ice cream or whatever. But what about platonic heartbreak? Not in place of romantic heartbreak, not a substitute, but as its own thing.
The unique pain that comes from losing a friend slowly and uncertainly. Not a dramatic falling out, or a death or what have you, something we'd all recognize and validate, and expect that you'd never see each other or significantly interact again. But quietly losing someone who is still alive and well and happy and moving on and we never even talked about it! Just over time stopped being in each others lives for no clear or defined reason, never knowing if you might hear from them again, never knowing that was going to be the last time you ever saw each other. Or, when your paths do still cross--you see each other from afar, you like each other's posts, maybe you try to hang out every now and then--but it will never be the same as it was. Not because anything went wrong, but just because you lived and grew and time passed, but you didn't do it together like you thought you would.
The unique pain of realizing that you are putting more effort and care into a relationship than is ever going to be reciprocated. Because relationships are two-sided but there's no cultural conventions, no labels or ceremonies or promises in place for you to ensure that your commitment will be returned. How someone can be so so important to you and maybe you're important to them too, but just for now, just until they find something else, something 'deeper'.
And then we see how it's all so cyclical, because the way in which amatonormativity devalues friendship is often the very thing you are losing friends to. And there's this other layer of pain in not having words for it. Not having a way to express and conceptualize this loss, because it's not the love we write songs about
idk if i'm making any sense. i'm in the post-therapy need a nap and calories but also having introspective revelations™ mode right now, which is probably why i'm waxing poetic but just
ahhhhhhh
Not just platonic love, but platonic grief! Platonic jealousy, platonic anger, platonic joy, platonic fear! Platonic heartbreak yall

If y'all also memory-holed 2016-2021 like the rest of us, be prepared for the face-melting speed at which Shit Starts Happening in the coming weeks now that the election has been certified, and yes even before he's sworn in, whether or not he's allowed to do whatever it is.
No, it will not slow down, stop, or get better. It will keep getting faster, more, and worse.
It will be A Lot, just to even keep track of it all. Just like last time.
I do not have the energy for it, but if no one has already, there should be a good handful of blogs + mods prepared and dedicated just to covering as many headlines/stories as possible. It would be Important and possibly Dangerous Work. And even though I recognize it needs doing, I also recognize it is far outside my ability to reliably provide.

Life Is Our Choices and Our Being—Not Our Possessions, Perceptions, or Status
This consumeristic world we live in, increasingly shaped by materialism, social validation, and external achievements, tends to neglect the adamantly clear notion that this period we spend in this material form and that we call life is determined by our choices and inner being rather than mere possessions or status. From the insights of Stoicism and Buddhism to modern neuroscience and…
